Lopey Mode

Lopey is a word I invented in high school before I discovered the word “discombobulated”. It very much describes how I feel right now.

School is just around the corner, and I really only have one project to finish before then. I have been working on the new Union site a lot with Stuart, and we are getting pretty close to finishing.

I’m really looking forward to school starting because it will give me something important to do with all of this time I have just laying around. At the same time I’m feeling extremely apprehensive, as I haven’t been in the swing of school for what feels like forever, and I’m about to start probably the most packed semester of my college career to date. I’ll be working approximately 23 hours at ContentWatch, fulfilling 6 office hours at the UPC (plus a 2 hour meeting every week), and taking 12 credit hours of classes (comprised of Family Studies, Linear Algebra, Survey of Jazz, and World Civilizations) each week. Yikes!

At any rate, it’s hard for me to believe that school starts in less than a week (August 20). There are so many things I wish I had done this summer and now I can’t go back and do them. I should’ve gotten the Union website done months ago, and I would’ve liked to have redesigned JoeyDay.com and The Forum. I also could’ve spent some valuable time putting together my application for full major status.

Congratulations Merissa!

Merissa graduated from BYU last night with a teaching degree. Her focus was on elementary education.

Merissa: Thanks for always being such a great sister and a great example to me. You are always so determined to reach your goals—something I know I am lacking most of the time. I’m so happy for you that you have endured through these years at school and come out with a clear victory! I wish you the best of luck as you begin your career in the teaching field. I know you will do a great job! Congrats!

New Chess Section

I realize how extremely nerdy this is, but please bear with me. I’ve created a new section of JoeyDay.com to keep track of chess games I’ve played. The new Chess section already includes about eight games (I’ve recorded over 30 more that will eventually be added). I’m still playing around with the layout of the section, so be sure to wear your hard hat if you’re going in there. 😊

Fixed It—I Hope

Okay, I think I’ve been able to fix the errors. Turns out my hosting provider installed an upgrade for PHP, and the latest version follows a slightly different syntax for server-side includes. Suffice it to say, it’s fixed.

If you do find any errors on the site, please let me know. Thanks!

Welcome I-LEAD Participants

Well, I had a lot of fun in Indiana this past week. I met close to 40 people who have quickly become some of my best friends. I’m extremely happy to be back home with everyone I love here (especially my sweetheart, Janene), but I do miss many of my new friends already.

I got home and checked my site and noticed three errors in the menu. Those shouldn’t be there. I’ve checked with my web hosting company and apparently they were down all day yesterday, so I’m lucky to even have a website. They are still working out a few of the bugs.

Anyway, I just wanted to welcome all of my new friends to JoeyDay.com. Feel free to peruse around and learn about me, my friends, and my family. I’ll try to have the I-LEAD pictures up as soon as possible, but I do have one or two other projects I should finish before I can devote any time to that. When I’ve got the pictures up I will be sure to send an email out on the listserv.
